Job Opening for Board Certified Music Therapist: Part time to grow to Full time!

Maestro Music Therapy is a rapidly expanding music therapy practice located in the beautiful community of Ithaca, NY. Currently seeking a third music therapist to help us in our mission to advance the field of music therapy in this vibrant and picturesque city.

Position Overview:

The music therapist will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals in Ithaca, NY through music therapy. This position is currently part-time but expected to grow to full-time within 6 months! This caseload can be built based on the music therapist's interests and passions. We are seeking a professional who possesses strong musical skills and a deep understanding of music therapy, and who shares our vision and passion for growth within the community. We value a healthy work-life balance and will ensure that the caseload is manageable, allowing the music therapist to provide quality care to clients while maintaining their well-being.

  • Case Load Management: The music therapist will develop and implement music therapy interventions tailored to the needs of a diverse caseload, including children with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), clients in assisted living facilities, early childhood music groups, and private clients. There will be room for growth in the direction of the music therapist’s clinical interest.

  • Administrative Assistance: The music therapist will provide administrative support, including client scheduling, documentation, and maintaining accurate records. They will also contribute to our social media presence and promote the benefits of music therapy to the Ithaca community.

  • Community Outreach: The music therapist will collaborate with local organizations, schools, and healthcare providers to expand our network, raise awareness about music therapy, and cultivate meaningful partnerships.

  • Practicum Student and Intern Support: Our practice actively trains and supports practicum students and interns. As part of our team, the music therapist will have the opportunity to contribute to student’s growth and development.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Music Therapy from an accredited program.

  • Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) or in the process of completing an internship and able to sit for the exam within one month of hire.

  • Strong musical skills across a variety of instruments and genres.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

  • Proficient in social media platforms and technology.

  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Music Therapy Internship Opportunities

We are excited to offer music therapy internship openings for passionate and dedicated individuals. We have had university affiliations with Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and Berklee College of Music, and we are open to creating new university affiliations for the right candidates.

To be able to work in this internship, a driver’s license and a car are required due to the nature of the sites we serve.
